The next day, I was seriously lagging when we woke up. Dakota had woken me three times for bed gymnastics, which had got more urgent each time. I was deliciously sore between my legs where his cock and mouth had been, and Dakota sported some impressive scratches, which made me blush. Dakota kissed me goodbye as he left the pub as Magic stomped in, glowering.

“Everything okay?” I said as Magic moved to the coffee machine and set it going.

“See the news?” Magic demanded.

“The Justice killer?” I asked.

Magic responded, “Yeah, sit down. Bunny, I brought breakfast.” He nodded to the bag he’d dumped on the bar. I opened it and discovered two lots of pancakes with crispy bacon and maple sauce. Magic served up coffee.

“What about Justice?” I requested around a mouthful of pancake.

“Two things, that clip was shown on tv mentioned you, and now reporters are questioning where you are and if you’re dead. Speculation is rife now, and you’ve reached the tabloids.” Magic growled, throwing a newspaper at me. I paled as I saw the picture, my library identification, and the headline under it. ‘Did a dirty cop serve an innocent librarian up for death?’

“Oh shit!” I cried as I grabbed the paper and began reading. The story spoke about how I’d reported a murder and then been accused of wasting police time. It mentioned how Houser had ridiculed the report even while covering for the murderer. The reporter then commented on how I’d been missing ever since, and now the cops were actively looking for me. And damn, it also said how I was gunned down on Hellfire.

“How did they get this information?” I yelled, aghast.

“SPD has a fuckin’ leak, and Lio is already on it. Someone snitched for a headline and a little hand greasing. Carry on reading, baby,” Magic urged. The story flipped to how there was a site (the address had been published) where anyone could watch the videos of the criminals confessing. The reporter explained the victims were each killed in an arson attack over the last fifteen years and then bashed SPD as harshly as possible.

“Holy crap, will Lio take me in?” I demanded, and Magic shook his head.

“This is the safest place for you. Even though Houser confessed and mentioned Tanner, there is no hard evidence without you. Tanner knows that, which is why he’s lying low. But the heat just went up. Now more than ever, honey, you must remain playing the Bunny persona. You must be yourself and not Janey. Bunny, I could surround this bar with bikers standing side to side, but Tanner would still discover a weakness.”

“What if the leak finds out where I’m hiding? Should Dakota and I run? Find someone secluded and hide out?”

“No, that won’t win anything. That will put you and Pyro in further danger, with only Pyro at your back. You get caught alone, shit will be a bloodbath and not for those hunting you. No, I’ll have a quiet word with the MCs I trust and set up a guard at the bar when I’m not present.
